Assemblyman Lavine Is Leader in Battle to End Investments in Iran

Assemblyman Lavine was honored to be called upon to lead the debate that resulted in the passage of the Iran Divestment Act of 2012. The Act authorizes state and local governments to prohibit contracts with companies that conduct substantial business or invest in Iran’s energy industry. The legislation will act as an effective sanction against Iran’s current tyrannical government.

Facing huge budget increases due to the unprecedented numbers of retiring public employees, the Town of Oyster Bay and the City of Glen Cove desperately needed legislation to allow them to pay out those expenses over a ten year period. MTA Tax Eliminated for Small Businesses

Small businesses with payrolls under $1.25 million will become exempt as a result of legislation supported by Assemblyman Charles Lavine. The bill will affect almost 72,000 Long Island businesses and will amount to almost a quarter of a billion dollars in savings. Businesses with payrolls between $1.25 million and $1.7 million will see a significant reduction in their tax rates.

Lavine Leads Group to Meet Israeli Spokesperson
