Lavine Works with Local Governments to Keep Taxes Down

Facing huge budget increases due to the unprecedented numbers of retiring public employees, the Town of Oyster Bay and the City of Glen Cove desperately needed legislation to allow them to pay out those expenses over a ten year period. Assemblyman Lavine wrote those bills and was responsible for their passage. Governor Andrew Cuomo signed them into law.
“Governor Cuomo and I worked very hard to pass a property tax cap to protect our hard-pressed homeowners and owners of commercial property,” said Lavine. “These laws for the Town of Oyster Bay and Glen Cove will help to protect Long Islanders from huge and dangerous spikes in their property taxes.”
